The eyes are numbed with anesthetic drops so no pain is felt during the LASIK surgery. During the procedure, there may be a light pressure sensation around the eye.
After LASIK surgery, Dr. Shikari usually suggests returning home to relax or going to sleep for a few hours. Most patients are able to return to work the next day! At Arete Lasik, we suggest some minimal restrictions in the first few weeks such as avoiding eye makeup or swimming.

Dr. Hasanain Shikari is firmly against “same day LASIK” (doing the procedure on the same day as the evaluation) as practiced by some clinics.
A complete LASIK evaluation involves dilating the eyes with eyedrops to examine the eyes. A thorough LASIK evaluation is impossible without dilating the eyes. The dilation effect lasts 4-8 hours atleast and a dilated eye is not ideal for a successful LASIK procedure. This means a LASIK procedure must be done the day after a successful LASIK evaluation. You would have to come in the morning after your laser vision correction for your one-day post-op appointment with Dr. Hasanain Shikari.
