Arete Clinics has a strong commitment to community outreach. We value the strength and support we receive from our family, friends and patients in Mumbai and believe it cultivates our growth. Community oral health activities are an important part of our service mission and to this end, Dr. Hasanain Shikari and Dr. Na’ama Attar-Shikari launched an initiative - Arete Outreach.
The #AreteOutreach programs currently include:
1- Health promotion campaigns. Free eye and dental check-up camps are organized for the underprivileged. Screening camps for diabetic retinopathy, oral disease, visual defects are conducted for low-income groups.
2- Interactive health awareness sessions. These are organized for diverse groups such as disabled children, the elderly and diabetics, tailored to focus on their specific healthcare needs. Health education is imparted to those with limited access to healthcare.
3- A strong sense of social justice is essential for our country’s progress. In an effort to shoulder social responsibility, Arete Clinics tries to organize free or low cost eye and dental treatment for marginalized and vulnerable people.
4- Teaching at schools. Dr. Hasanain Shikari and Dr. Na’ama Attar-Shikari have visited schools to take fun classes and enthrall students with specimens, custom-made videos and presentations. In another aspect, discussions of dentistry and ophthalmology as career opportunities are also organized.
5- Collection of gently used eyewear. Old prescription eye-glasses of all types are accepted, including sunglasses, which can protect against eye damage by UV rays. These are then distributed to those in need.
